SEE ALSO...

Msi1 Antibody (69-Q) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Msi1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Msi1 antibody (69-Q) is available as the non-conjugated form. Musashi1 (Msi1) is a crucial RNA-binding protein predominantly expressed in neural progenitor cells and neural stem cells, playing a significant role in the regulation of cell fate during development. The gene encoding human Msi1 produces a 362 amino acid protein that is essential for maintaining the balance between self-renewal and differentiation of stem cells in the central nervous system. Msi1 (69-Q) antibody localizes to the cytoplasm in murine embryonic neural progenitor cells and shows decreased expression as these cells differentiate, highlighting its importance in the early stages of neural development. Msi1 interacts with NUMB, a protein that serves as a membrane-associated antagonist of Notch signaling, thereby influencing critical pathways involved in cell proliferation and differentiation. Beyond serving as a marker for neural progenitor cells in healthy human brains, Msi1 is also implicated in human gliomas, making Msi1 a valuable target for cancer research. Msi1 expression extends to Sertoli cells of the testis and granulosa cells of the ovary in rats, underscoring Msi1′s diverse biological significance across different tissues.

Can sc-135721: Msi1 (69-Q) monoclonal antibody be used to stain 4% paraformaldehyde-fixed, frozen mouse brain tissue sections?

Asked by: Anthea H
Thank you for your question. Yes, this antibody should work with that application, especially when using with a corresponding isotype specific binding protein. A link to our binding proteins is provided below. https://www.scbt.com/browse/mouse-igg-binding-proteins/_/N-130b1ry

Can sc-135721: Msi1 (69-Q) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-135721: Msi1 (69-Q) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
