MRP-S6 Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MRP-S6 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MRP-S6 (E-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MRP-S6, or mitochondrial ribosomal protein S6, plays a crucial role in mitochondrial protein synthesis, as MRP-S6 is a key component of the mitochondrial ribosome′s small subunit (28S), which consists of 12S rRNA and nearly 30 distinct proteins. The unique structure of mitochondrial ribosomes, which are composed of a higher proportion of protein compared to prokaryotic ribosomes, is essential for their function in translating mitochondrial mRNA into proteins that are vital for cellular respiration and energy production. Notably, MRP-S6 shares homology with ribosomal proteins found in Escherichia coli, highlighting the evolutionary conservation of mitochondrial ribosomal components across species. This conservation underscores the importance of MRP-S6 in maintaining mitochondrial function and overall cellular health, making MRP-S6 a significant target for research in mitochondrial biology and related diseases.

Hallo, ist dieser Antikörper für eine Zelloberflächenfärbung geeignet bzw. bindet der Antikörper an einen extrazellulären Bereich des Proteins? Viele Grüße, Kathleen

Asked by: Kathleen A
Vielen Dank für Ihre Anfrage. MRP-S6 ist nicht membranständig, daher ist eine Oberflächenfärbung nicht möglich; Ihre Zellen müssten permabilisiert werden.

Can MRP-S6 (E-8): sc-390597 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Professor Griffin
Thank you for your question. Yes, MRP-S6 (E-8): sc-390597 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
