MRP-L50 Antibody (C-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects MRP-L50 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MRP-L50 (C-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MRP-L50, also known as mitochondrial ribosomal protein L50, is a crucial component of the mitochondrial ribosome, specifically part of the large 39S subunit, which plays a vital role in mitochondrial protein synthesis. MRP-L50 consists of 158 amino acids and is localized within the mitochondrion, where MRP-L50 collaborates with other mitochondrial ribosomal proteins to facilitate the translation of mitochondrial mRNA into functional proteins essential for cellular respiration and energy production. Proper functioning of MRP-L50 is critical, as defects in mitochondrial protein synthesis can lead to various mitochondrial diseases, often characterized by energy deficiency in tissues with high metabolic demands, such as muscle and nerve tissues. The gene encoding MRP-L50 is located on human chromosome 9, a region significant not only for numerous genes but also for association with various genetic disorders, including hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia and familial dysautonomia. Using MRP-L50 (C-3) antibody in research can provide valuable insights into mitochondrial function and implications in health and disease.
