MREG Antibody (A-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MREG in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MREG antibody (A-6) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MREG, or melanoregulin, is a crucial protein involved in the biogenesis of disk membranes in photoreceptor rod cells, which are essential for vision in low-light conditions. The rod outer segment, composed of stacked arrays of disk membranes, undergoes constant renewal through complex biochemical processes, and MREG facilitates membrane fusion during this renewal. Additionally, MREG interacts with RDS (Peripherin-2), a tetraspanin protein vital for maintaining the structural integrity of photoreceptor cells during the membrane fusion process. MREG consists of 214 amino acids and is expressed in photoreceptor cells, existing in two isoforms due to alternative splicing, highlighting functional diversity and importance in visual phototransduction.
