MMP-2 Antibody (2C1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody specifically engineered to detect the activated form of human MMP-2, as well as MMP-2 from mouse and rat origins across multiple applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). MMP-2 monoclonal antibody (2C1) is raised against the activated form of MMP-2, ensuring precise binding to the target protein, and is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms such as agarose, phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates to accommodate diverse experimental needs. Matrix metalloproteinase-2, also called MMP-2, gelatinase A, CLG4, MONA, CLG4A, and TBE-1, is a pivotal enzyme within the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family, which plays a crucial role in the degradation of extracellular matrix (ECM) components including collagen types IV, V, VII, and X, as well as gelatin type I. This enzymatic activity is essential for normal physiological processes such as tissue remodeling, angiogenesis, and wound healing, as well as pathological conditions like cancer metastasis, cardiovascular diseases, and inflammatory disorders. MMP-2 activity is tightly regulated by the Ras signaling pathway and requires both calcium and zinc ions for catalytic function. By cleaving ECM proteins, MMP-2 facilitates cellular migration and invasion, making MMP-2 a key player in tumor progression and metastasis. Additionally, MMP-2 is involved in the modulation of bioactive molecules within the ECM, influencing cell signaling pathways that govern cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Understanding the expression and regulation of MMP-2 is vital for elucidating the mechanisms underlying various diseases, and anti-MMP-2 antibody (2C1) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying these critical biological processes.
