SEE ALSO...

MICA/B Antibody (F-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MICA/B of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MICA/B (F-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MICA and MICB proteins are stress-induced antigens closely related to major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules, and are frequently expressed in epithelial tumors. These highly glycosylated cell surface proteins are unique in that MICA/B proteins are stably expressed without conventional class I peptide ligands or association with β-2-Microglobulin, which is crucial for function in immune response. MICA and MICB proteins are primarily located on epithelial cell surfaces, where expression is induced during cellular stress, such as proliferation or heat shock. Surface localization allows direct interaction with immune cells, particularly intestinal epithelial Vδ1 γδ T cells, which recognize MICA/B through variable T cell receptors. This interaction suggests MICA and MICB play a vital role in signaling cellular distress, thereby evoking immune responses in intestinal epithelium, making MICA/B proteins important targets for research in cancer immunology and therapeutic interventions.

Can this MICA/B (F-6): sc-137242 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. We recommend following our recommended protocol, provided below, https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining Alternatively, we do offer this antibody directly conjugated to HRP and a variety of fluorochromes, if you wish to omit using any secondary detection reagent and potential non-specific binding.
