mGluR-8 Antibody (4A7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects mGluR-8 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-mGluR-8 antibody (4A7) is available as a non-conjugated format. mGluR-8, a member of the metabotropic glutamate receptor family, plays a crucial role in modulating synaptic transmission and plasticity in the central nervous system. mGluR-8 is primarily located in presynaptic terminals of neurons, where mGluR-8 regulates neurotransmitter release, influencing various physiological processes such as learning, memory, and anxiety. mGluR-8′s presynaptic positioning allows effective modulation of glutamate release in response to synaptic activity, contributing to fine-tuning of excitatory signaling in the brain. mGluR-8 interacts with specific G proteins that activate downstream signaling pathways, further emphasizing mGluR-8′s role in neurotransmission. Alternative splicing of this integral membrane protein results in three isoforms: a, b, and c, with human mGluR-8 mapping to q31.33 of chromosome 7.
