MFG-E8 Antibody (MFG-06) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MFG-E8 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MFG-E8 antibody (MFG-06) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MFG-E8 protein, also known as Lactadherin or BA46, is a 387 amino acid peripheral membrane protein that plays a crucial role in cell adhesion and signaling. MFG-E8 is primarily located on the membranes of mammary epithelial cells and is abundant in human breast milk, where MFG-E8 encapsulates lipids and serves as a marker for differentiated carcinomas. MFG-E8 functions as a specific ligand for Integrin β5 and Integrin β3, facilitating important interactions during fertilization and apoptosis. MFG-E8 has been shown to bind to rotavirus, inhibiting viral replication and providing a protective effect against viral infections. Overexpression of MFG-E8 has been linked to breast cancer, indicating potential involvement in tumorigenesis and making MFG-E8 a significant target for cancer research.
