MetAP-2 Antibody (F-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MetAP-2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MetAP-2 (F-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Methionine aminopeptidases, such as MetAP-2, play a crucial role in protein maturation by removing N-terminal methionine residues from nascent peptides, a process essential for proper protein folding and function. This enzymatic activity is particularly important in eukaryotic cells, where MetAP-2 contributes to regulating cell proliferation and differentiation. MetAP-2′s conservation across species, including humans and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, highlights a fundamental role in cellular processes. Additionally, MetAP-2′s regulation by neurofibromin (NF1) and association with various cancers underscore potential as a therapeutic target; MetAP-2 inhibitors, such as ovalicin and fumagillin, have shown promise in cancer treatment by disrupting tumor proliferation linked to NF1 mutations.

What are the differences between MetAp-2 antibody (F-7) and MetAp-2 antibody (A-9)? there a difference regarding affinity or sensitivity for metap-2? Do they have different affinities for the enzyme?

Thank you for your question. These are very similar monoclonal antibodies, both raised against the same antigen for MetAP-2. They are different isotypes of mouse IgG, and the sc-365637: MetAP-2 (F-7) antibody is recommended for IHC(P), while the (A-9) clone has not yet been validated in that application. In addition, the sc-365637: MetAP-2 (F-7) antibody currently has a lot more data available, and one product citation.
