MetAP-1 Antibody (C-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects MetAP-1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MetAP-1, a member of the M24 family of proteins, plays a crucial role in protein maturation by removing the amino-terminal methionine residue from nascent polypeptides, a process essential for proper protein folding and function. MetAP-1 is predominantly expressed in skeletal muscle, although present at lower levels in all tissues, highlighting MetAP-1′s importance in muscle physiology and overall cellular function. The active site of MetAP-1 is characterized by two adjacent divalent metal ions, which are critical for enzymatic activity, as these ions facilitate the hydrolysis of the methionine residue. The evolutionary conservation of MetAP-1 across eukaryotes underscores a fundamental role in regulating cell proliferation and maintaining cellular homeostasis.
