MEPE Antibody (C-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects MEPE protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MEPE (C-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MEPE, or matrix extracellular phosphoglycoprotein, is a 525 amino acid extracellular matrix protein primarily expressed in osteocytes and the brain, playing a crucial role in regulating bone metabolism. One of the key aspects of MEPE is its RGD cell-attachment motif, which facilitates interactions with integrins, thereby influencing cell adhesion and signaling. This structural feature is vital for MEPE′s function in mediating mineralization and demineralization processes within the osteocyte microenvironment, which are essential for maintaining bone health and integrity. Additionally, MEPE is implicated in various developmental processes, including skeletogenesis, bone regeneration, and odontogenesis, highlighting MEPE′s importance in both normal physiology and potential pathophysiological conditions. Notably, MEPE is secreted in hypophosphatemic osteomalacia tumors, suggesting MEPE′s involvement in the pathophysiology of bone-related cancers. Defects in the gene encoding MEPE may lead to osteomalacia, a condition characterized by inadequate bone mineralization, further underscoring MEPE′s significance in skeletal health.
