MEPE Antibody (LFMb-33) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MEPE (matrix extracellular phosphoglycoprotein) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-MEPE antibody (LFMb-33) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MEPE, also known as osteoblast/osteocyte factor 45 (OF45), is a 525 amino acid extracellular matrix protein predominantly expressed in osteocytes and the brain. MEPE plays a crucial role in regulating bone metabolism, particularly in mediating mineralization and demineralization processes within the osteocyte microenvironment. Notably, MEPE contains an RGD cell-attachment motif, which is essential for cell adhesion and signaling, and shares structural similarities with other RGD-containing phosphoglycoproteins such as osteopontin (OPN) and dentin sialophosphoprotein (DSP). MEPE′s ability to influence bone mineralization is vital for various developmental processes, including skeletogenesis, bone regeneration, and odontogenesis. Additionally, MEPE is secreted in hypophosphatemic osteomalacia tumors, indicating potential involvement in the pathophysiology of bone-related cancers. Genetic defects in the MEPE gene have been linked to osteomalacia, a condition characterized by inadequate bone mineralization, which can manifest as an adult form of rickets.
