MEI1 Antibody (F-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgA kappa light chain antibody that detects MEI1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MEI1 antibody (F-4) is available as the non-conjugated form. MEI1, also known as Meiosis inhibitor protein 1, plays a crucial role in the initiation of meiosis by facilitating the formation of genetically programmed double-strand breaks, which are essential for proper chromosome segregation during gamete formation. This 1274 amino acid protein is predominantly expressed in the testis, and defects in the gene encoding MEI1 can lead to spermatogenic arrest and male infertility, highlighting its importance in reproductive health. Notably, genetic variations in MEI1 have been associated with infertility in certain populations, such as European Americans, but not in Israeli men, indicating a complex interplay between genetics and fertility. Additionally, human MEI1 shares 79% sequence similarity with its mouse counterpart, and alternative splicing results in the production of seven distinct isoforms of MEI1, which may have varying functions and regulatory mechanisms.
