MEF-2B Antibody (C-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MEF-2B protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MEF-2B (C-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The myocyte enhancer factor-2 (MEF-2) family of transcription factors plays a crucial role in regulating the development and function of T cells, neuronal cells, and muscle cells, with four family members—MEF-2A, -2B, -2C, and -2D—arising from alternatively spliced transcripts. These proteins bind as homo- and heterodimers to the MEF-2 site in promoter regions of target genes, indicating their importance in gene regulation during embryogenesis and development. Notably, MEF-2B is involved in the differentiation of mesodermal precursor cells into myoblasts, a process that has revealed various tissue-specific factors governing muscle gene expression. Among these factors are the myogenic basic helix-loop-helix proteins, such as MyoD, myogenin, Myf-5, and MRF4, which work alongside the MEF-2 family to bind to the MEF-2 target DNA sequence in regulatory regions of numerous muscle-specific genes. The intricate interplay between these proteins is vital for proper muscle development and function, making MEF-2B a significant target for research in muscle biology and related disorders.
