SEE ALSO...

Med6 Antibody (D-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Med6 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Med6 (D-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Med6 plays a crucial role in regulating transcription within mammalian cells, functioning as a key component of high molecular weight coactivating complexes that facilitate communication between transcriptional activators and RNA polymerase II. Med6 is part of the SMCC (SRB and MED protein cofactor complex), which is essential for enhancing gene-specific activation or repression by DNA-binding transcription factors. SMCC not only associates with RNA polymerase II holoenzyme through Srb7 subunit but also interacts with coactivator proteins from TRAP (thyroid hormone receptor-activating protein) and DRIP (vitamin D receptor interacting protein) complexes, thereby promoting steroid receptor-dependent transcriptional activation. Med6′s interaction with PC4 (positive cofactor 4) highlights a role in repressing basal transcription independently of RNA polymerase II activity, underscoring Med6′s importance in gene expression regulation.

When should the TransCruz reagent sc-390474 X be used instead of the standard form sc-390474?

Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
Thank you for your question. We recommend using the TransCruz reagent form when performing ChIP or GelShift assays. This form can also be used in other applications such as Western Blot or IHC, but the dilution should be adjusted by a factor of 10 to account for the higher original concentration.
