SEE ALSO...

Med18 Antibody (E-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Med18 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Med18 (E-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Med18, also known as mediator complex subunit 18 or p28b, is a crucial component of the mediator complex, which plays a vital role in transcription regulation in mammalian cells. This 208 amino acid protein is localized in the nucleus and functions as a scaffold that facilitates assembly of a functional preinitiation complex with RNA polymerase II and general transcription factors, thereby enhancing transcription of RNA polymerase II-dependent genes. Med18 interacts with several other proteins, including Med8 and Med25, to effectively bridge regulatory proteins and RNA polymerase II, ensuring precise transcriptional regulation. Med18′s role in transcriptional activation underscores potential as a target for research into gene expression regulation and implications in various biological processes and diseases.
