MECL-1 Antibody (C-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects MECL-1 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MECL-1 (C-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MECL-1, also known as multicatalytic endopeptidase complex-like-1, plays a crucial role in forming immunoproteasomes, which are essential for efficient antigen processing and presentation via major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules. Upon stimulation with interferon-gamma, standard 20S proteasome subunits are replaced by inducible subunits, including MECL-1, leading to the generation of peptide ligands vital for immune response. MECL-1 presence in immunoproteasomes enhances protein cleavage specificity, allowing for the production of peptides more effectively presented to T cells, thereby influencing adaptive immunity. MECL-1′s ability to form distinct proteasome complexes, along with other subunits like LMP2 and LMP7, results in a diverse array of proteasome subsets that can tailor immune response to various pathogens.
