SEE ALSO...

MDH2 Antibody (1G12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects MDH2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MDH2 antibody (1G12) is available as a non-conjugated format. MDH2, also known as malate dehydrogenase, NAD mitochondrial, or M-MDH, consists of 338 amino acids and is a member of the LDH/MDH superfamily. MDH2 is primarily localized in the mitochondria, where MDH2 plays a vital role in the malate-aspartate shuttle, a key mechanism for metabolic coordination between the cytosol and mitochondria. This shuttle is essential for maintaining cellular energy homeostasis, as MDH2 facilitates the transfer of reducing equivalents and metabolites, thereby supporting the citric acid cycle. MDH2 utilizes the NAD/NADH cofactor system to catalyze the reversible oxidation of malate to oxaloacetate, a crucial intermediate involved in various metabolic pathways, including amino acid synthesis and gluconeogenesis. Proper functioning of MDH2 is critical for efficient energy production and metabolic regulation, making MDH2 an important target for research in cellular metabolism and related diseases.
