MDFI Antibody (2-RE35) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects MDFI protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MDFI antibody (2-RE35) is available as the non-conjugated format. MDFI, or MyoD family inhibitor, is a 246 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in muscle development by functioning as a transcription factor that negatively regulates MyoD proteins′ activity, thereby inhibiting myogenesis. This regulation ensures muscle differentiation occurs at the appropriate time during development. MDFI achieves this by associating with MyoD proteins and obstructing nuclear localization signals, which effectively sequesters these proteins in the cytoplasm and prevents DNA binding. The gene encoding MDFI is located on human chromosome 6, a region comprising nearly 6% of the human genome and associated with various diseases, including early onset intestinal cancer and other genetic disorders. MDFI′s ability to modulate MyoD activity highlights its importance in muscle biology and potential implications in muscle-related diseases and conditions.
