Mcm4 Antibody (C-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Mcm4 protein of Saccharomyces cerevisiae origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Mcm4 antibody (C-12) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The mini-chromosome maintenance (MCM) family of proteins, which includes MCM2, MCM3, MCM4 (Cdc21), MCM5 (Cdc46), MCM6 (Mis5), and MCM7 (Cdc47), plays a crucial role in regulating DNA replication, ensuring that replication occurs only once during each cell cycle. MCM4 is essential for the formation of the MCM complex, which acts as a helicase during DNA unwinding, a critical step for DNA replication. Proper functioning of MCM4 is vital, as any dysregulation can lead to genomic instability and contribute to various diseases, including cancer. Expression of MCM proteins, including MCM4, increases during cell growth, peaking at the transition from G1 to S phase of the cell cycle, and is tightly regulated by E2F transcription factors and protein kinases. MCM4′s interaction with other MCM proteins, particularly in the formation of complexes that facilitate DNA helicase activity, underscores its importance in maintaining genome integrity during cell division.
