MAZ Antibody (133.7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects MAZ protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-MAZ antibody (133.7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The Myc-associated zinc finger protein MAZ, also known as ZF87 or Pur-1 in mouse, is a crucial transcription factor that plays a significant role in regulating gene expression by participating in both initiation and termination of transcription. MAZ functions as a transcriptional repressor, exerting effects independently of the c-Myc promoter, which is essential for maintaining proper cellular function and preventing aberrant gene expression. MAZ protein is primarily located in the nucleus, where MAZ interacts with various transcription factors, including SP1, to modulate the expression of genes such as the parathyroid hormone receptor and serotonin 1A receptor. This interaction is vital for tissue-specific gene expression, as competition between MAZ and SP1 can influence the regulation of the PNMT gene, highlighting MAZ′s importance in cellular differentiation and development. MAZ′s role as a growth suppressor protein is underscored by MAZ′s ability to impact the levels of key cell cycle regulatory proteins, such as cyclin A and E, thereby contributing to the control of cell proliferation and prevention of tumorigenesis.

Which immunogen does the antibody recognize?

Asked by: Tony998
Thank you for your question. Anti-MAZ Antibody (133.7): sc-130915 was raised against a heparin-agarose purified MAZ-maltose binding fusion protein of human origin. No epitope mapping has been performed for this antibody as of yet, so its exact epitope sequence is not known.

Are there any issues with using sc-130915: MAZ (133.7) mouse monoclonal primary antibody on mouse samples?

Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent,we recommend using a directly conjugated primary antibody. Please contact our special orders department for pricing and availability of sc-130915 conjugates.
