MAT Iα/IIα Antibody (B-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects MAT I alpha/II alpha protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MAT Iα/IIα (B-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Methionine adenosyltransferase (MAT) plays a crucial role in the synthesis of S-adenosylmethionine (AdoMet), a key methyl donor involved in numerous biological processes, including methylation of DNA, proteins, and lipids. MAT is primarily located in the liver, where MAT functions in methionine metabolism and regulation of cellular methylation states. The liver-specific isoform, MAT I/III, is encoded by the MAT1A gene, while the non-liver specific isoform is produced by the MAT2A gene. Dysregulation of MAT1A expression is associated with liver diseases such as cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, where a switch to MAT2A expression can promote a dedifferentiated phenotype and enhance cancer cell proliferation.
