MAF1 Antibody (H-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MAF1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MAF1 Antibody (H-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MAF1 protein, consisting of 256 amino acids, is primarily localized in the nucleus and serves as the human homolog of the yeast Maf1 protein. MAF1 plays a crucial role in regulating the transcription of RNA polymerase III, which is essential for synthesizing small RNAs, including tRNAs and 5S rRNA. By interacting with BRF2, MAF1 mediates signals that specifically repress the activity of RNA polymerase III, inhibiting the assembly of the transcription factor TFIIIB onto DNA. MAF1 gene is located on human chromosome 8, a region associated with various diseases and malignancies, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and certain leukemias. Understanding MAF1 function is vital, as dysregulation can lead to significant cellular consequences, impacting gene expression and contributing to disease pathology.
