SEE ALSO...

MACF1 Antibody (A-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MACF1 of mouse and rat origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MACF1 (A-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MACF1, or Microtubule-actin cross-linking factor 1, is a large 5,327 amino acid protein encoded by the human MACF1 gene, belonging to the plakin or cytolinker family. MACF1 plays a crucial role in maintaining cellular architecture by cross-linking actin filaments to microtubules, which is essential for cellular stability and integrity. The presence of one actin-binding domain, two calponin-homology domains, two EF-hand domains, one SH3 domain, and thirty-seven spectrin repeats in MACF1′s structure allows interaction with various cytoskeletal components, facilitating the organization of the cytoskeleton in response to mechanical stress. MACF1 is predominantly expressed in the cytoplasm of tissues such as the lung, brain, spinal cord, skeletal and cardiac muscle, and skin, highlighting MACF1′s importance in both structural support and cellular signaling pathways.
