Mac-2BP Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Mac-2BP protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Mac-2BP (E-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Mac-2BP, also known as LGALS3BP (lectin, galactoside-binding, soluble, 3 binding protein), 90K, or BTBD17B, is a 585 amino acid protein that is secreted into the extracellular matrix and features one SRCR domain, one BTB (POZ) domain, and one BACK domain. Mac-2BP is expressed ubiquitously and exists as both a homodimer and a homomultimer, playing a crucial role in promoting integrin-mediated cell adhesion, which is vital for maintaining tissue integrity and facilitating immune responses. Mac-2BP is implicated in the stimulation of host defenses against tumor cells and viruses, with elevated levels observed in HIV-infected individuals, highlighting Mac-2BP′s significance in immune system function. Mac-2BP gene is located on human chromosome 17, a region that comprises over 2.5% of the human genome and encodes more than 1,200 genes, underscoring Mac-2BP′s potential involvement in various biological processes and importance in health and disease.
