    SEE ALSO...

Ly-49I Antibody (5K29) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Ly-49I protein of mouse origin by flow cytometry (FCM). anti-Ly-49I antibody (5K29) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including phycoerythrin (PE) and fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), providing flexibility for different experimental needs. Ly-49I protein plays a crucial role in regulating natural killer (NK) cell activity, which is essential for immune response against tumors and virally infected cells. Specifically, Ly-49I is a member of the C-type lectin superfamily of type II membrane glycoproteins, which are involved in recognizing class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules. This interaction helps NK cells distinguish between healthy and abnormal cells, thereby preventing potentially harmful cell proliferation. The Ly-49 family consists of at least 21 isoforms, each varying in length from 230 to 280 amino acids, clustered on human chromosome 16. These isoforms can form homodimers on the cell surface, enhancing their ability to mediate inhibitory signals that regulate NK cell activity. Understanding Ly-49I function and interactions is important for developing therapeutic strategies that harness immune system′s power against cancer and other diseases.
