LSm8 Antibody (F-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects LSm8 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). LSm8 (F-8) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. LSm8, also known as YJR022W, is a crucial component of the LSm2-8 complex, which is essential for processing small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs), transfer RNAs (tRNAs), and ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs), as well as turnover of precursor messenger RNAs (pre-mRNAs). LSm2-8 complex plays a vital role in RNA metabolism, facilitating RNA-protein interactions and structural changes necessary for ribosomal subunit assembly. LSm8 is predominantly localized in the nucleus, where LSm8 specifically binds to the 3′-terminal U-tract of U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA), ensuring proper nuclear localization of U6 snRNA, which is critical for spliceosome assembly and function. LSm8′s ability to form heptameric complexes underscores LSm8′s importance in maintaining RNA stability and regulating gene expression, making LSm8 a significant target for research in molecular biology and genetics.

Can LSm8 (F-8): sc-390542 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. Yes, LSm8 (F-8): sc-390542 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
