LPCAT2 Antibody (H-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects LPCAT2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). LPCAT2 (H-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. LPCAT2, or lysophosphatidylcholine acyltransferase 2, is a 544 amino acid protein that belongs to the 1-acyl-sn-glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase family and is primarily located in the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus membranes. This localization is crucial as LPCAT2 effectively participates in lipid and phospholipid metabolism, particularly in the biosynthesis of platelet-activating factor (PAF). LPCAT2 exhibits both acyltransferase and acetyltransferase activities, which are calcium-dependent, allowing LPCAT2 to catalyze the conversion of the PAF precursor, lyso-PAF, into PAF, as well as converting lyso-PAF into 1-alkyl-phosphatidylcholine, a key component of cell membranes. During resting states, LPCAT2′s acyltransferase activity predominates, while acute inflammatory stimuli, such as lipopolysaccharides, enhance acetyltransferase activity, leading to increased PAF synthesis. This dynamic regulation underscores LPCAT2′s vital role in cellular responses to inflammation and membrane composition.
