LMP7 Antibody (A-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects LMP7 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). LMP7 (A-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. LMP7 is a crucial component of the proteasome, a multi-catalytic proteinase complex located in both the nucleus and cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells. This complex plays a vital role in the ATP/Ubiquitin-dependent proteolytic pathway, which is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis by degrading misfolded or damaged proteins. The proteasome′s structure, characterized by a highly ordered ring-shaped assembly of at least 15 nonidentical subunits, allows for multiple distinct proteolytic activities, including the cleavage of peptides after branched-chain or bulky hydrophobic amino acids. LMP7, along with LMP2, links the proteasome with the MHC class I antigen-processing pathway, particularly upon stimulation with interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), which prompts the displacement of housekeeping subunits and activates cytotoxic T cells. LMP7 exists in two forms, LMP7A and LMP7B, across various tissues, highlighting its significance in immune response and cellular regulation.

Can the peptide sc-365699 P be used as a positive control in Western Blot?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide sc-365699 P is a short synthetic peptide intended for use as a negative control. It is not appropriate for use in Western Blot as a positive control.
