Legumain Antibody (B-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Legumain in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Legumain, also known as LGMN, AEP (asparaginyl endopeptidase), or PRSC1, is a 433 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role as a cysteine protease, specifically catalyzing the hydrolysis of asparaginyl and aspartyl bonds. This enzymatic activity is particularly important for processing proteins within the lysosomal/endosomal system, where Legumain is involved in presenting bacterial antigens via MHC class II molecules, a key process for effective immune response. Legumain is predominantly localized in lysosomes and expressed in various tissues, with notably high levels in placenta, heart, and kidney. Legumain exists in both precursor and fully mature forms, with active enzyme being produced in dendritic cells. Overexpression of Legumain has been linked to solid tumor development, indicating potential roles in carcinogenesis. Multiple isoforms of Legumain arise from alternative splicing, contributing to diverse functional roles in cellular processes. Anti-Legumain antibody (B-10) is an essential tool for researchers investigating Legumain′s implications in health and disease.
