LAMP-2 Antibody (M3/84) is a rat monoclonal IgG1 antibody targeting an epitope mapped to an immunoadsorbent-purified mouse macrophage glycoprotein fraction, with species reactivity in mouse, rat, and human. LAMP-2 monoclonal antibody (M3/84) is validated for applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). LAMP-2, also known as CD107B, is a glycosylated type I transmembrane protein localized to the lysosomal membrane. The structure includes an extracellular domain rich in N-linked glycosylation, which is crucial for maintaining lysosomal membrane integrity, and a short cytoplasmic tail that interacts with intracellular trafficking machinery. Glycosylation of LAMP-2 contributes to stability, protection of the lysosomal membrane from hydrolytic enzymes, and plays a role in autophagy by facilitating the fusion of autophagosomes with lysosomes. LAMP-2 is sorted at the trans-Golgi network and transported via specialized vesicular pathways, underscoring importance in cellular homeostasis and macromolecule degradation. Alterations in LAMP-2 structure or expression are associated with lysosomal storage disorders like Danon disease and may influence tumor progression through impacts on cellular adhesion and metastasis. LAMP-2 (M3/84) antibody serves as a valuable tool for studying structural and functional roles in lysosomal biology and disease mechanisms.
