Lamin A Antibody (C-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody designed to detect Lamin A, also known as LMNA or A-type lamin, across multiple species including mouse, rat, and human. Lamin A is a critical component of the nuclear lamina, providing structural support to the nuclear envelope and playing a vital role in maintaining nuclear integrity and cellular morphology. Lamin A undergoes essential post-translational modifications, including farnesylation, endoproteolytic cleavage, and methylation, which are crucial for proper localization and function within the nucleus. Lamin A is involved in regulating key cellular processes such as DNA replication, transcription, and the cell cycle, making Lamin A indispensable for cellular longevity and stability. Lamin A (C-3) monoclonal antibody targets the amino acids 580-601 near the C-terminus of human Lamin A. Anti-Lamin A antibody (C-3) is versatile for use in various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), providing reliable and consistent results for researchers studying nuclear structure, gene expression regulation, and laminopathies. Anti-Lamin A antibody (C-3) facilitates advancements in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying a range of diseases linked to LMNA mutations.

Has this antibody been tested for Flow? Does it also detect pre-Lamin A & progerin? Thanks

Asked by: celinelabo
Thank you for your question. This antibody has not yet been tested for flow cytometry. This monoclonal antibody is specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 580-601 near the C-terminus of Lamin A of human origin. This epitope is conserved in pre-Lamin A and progerin so theoretically this antibody should be able to recognize these different isoforms when they are expressed, however, this reactivity has not been confirmed experimentally.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful for IF and WBI compared C-3 (sc-518013) and 4A58 (sc-71481) for IF in MEF wt, Lmna-/- and HEK293T. C-3 and 4A58 are specific and useful for IF with MEFs in our condition (4%PFA 15min fixation followed 1:500 dilution / 4C overnight reaction). I also compared them with WB in progeria MEF, then C-3 is able to detect progerin, but 4A58 isn't.
