KV3.1 Antibody (E-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects KV3.1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). KV3.1 (E-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. KV3.1, a member of the voltage-gated potassium channel family, plays a crucial role in regulating neuronal excitability and action potential repolarization, which is essential for proper nervous system functioning. Located predominantly in the central nervous system, KV3.1 channels facilitate rapid repolarization of action potentials, allowing neurons to fire at high frequencies, which is vital for processes such as signal transmission and synaptic plasticity. KV3.1 gene, mapping to chromosome 11p15, produces multiple splice variants that can influence ion permeability and channel kinetics, thereby affecting neuronal communication and overall brain function. Additionally, KV3.1 interacts with other potassium channel subtypes, such as KV3.3, to form heteromeric channels that further modulate excitability and contribute to fine-tuning neuronal signaling. This intricate interplay underscores KV3.1′s importance in maintaining the balance of excitatory and inhibitory signals in the brain, making KV3.1 a significant target for research in neurophysiology and potential therapeutic interventions.
