SEE ALSO...

KSHV K8α Antibody (8C12G10G1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects KSHV K8 alpha protein of KSHV origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). KSHV K8α (8C12G10G1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. KSHV K8 alpha protein, also known as ORF 72, is a viral homolog of mammalian cyclin D and plays a crucial role in cell cycle regulation by interacting with retinoblastoma protein (Rb). This interaction can lead to cyclin-dependent kinases (cdks) activation that are resistant to p16INK4a inhibitory effects, thereby promoting cell proliferation. K8α expression is particularly significant during KSHV lytic phase, and cidofovir does not inhibit K8α activity. KSHV associates with Kaposi′s sarcoma and other lymphoproliferative disorders, especially in immunocompromised individuals, highlighting the importance of understanding how KSHV proteins, including K8α, contribute to oncogenesis and disease progression. KSHV K8α gene encodes a K-bZIP protein that interacts with tumor suppressor p53, effectively repressing transcriptional activity and preventing p53-mediated apoptosis, which is critical for infected cell survival and virus persistence.
