SEE ALSO...

KIR4.1 Antibody (1C11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects KIR4.1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-KIR4.1 antibody (1C11) is available as the non-conjugated format. KIR4.1 protein, also known as Kir1.2, plays a critical role in maintaining potassium ion homeostasis within the central nervous system, as KIR4.1 is predominantly expressed in glial cells, astrocytes, and cortical neurons. This inwardly rectifying potassium channel facilitates the influx of potassium ions, which is essential for regulating neuronal excitability and supporting myelination in the developing nervous system. Proper functioning of KIR4.1 is vital for the health of neural tissues, as disruptions in potassium ion flow can lead to neurological disorders. Additionally, KIR4.1 is expressed in myelin-synthesizing oligodendrocytes, highlighting KIR4.1′s importance in the formation and maintenance of myelin sheaths that insulate nerve fibers. The gene encoding human KIR4.1 is located on chromosome 1, and KIR4.1′s interactions with other potassium channels, such as KIR4.2 and KIR5.1, further underscore KIR4.1′s significance in cellular signaling and overall brain function.
