    SEE ALSO...

KAT III Antibody (A-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects KAT III protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). KAT III (A-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Kynurenine aminotransferases, which include KAT I, KAT II, and KAT III, are part of the class-I pyridoxal-phosphate-dependent aminotransferase family. KAT III is predominantly expressed in the liver, heart, kidney, and neuroendocrine tissues, where KAT III plays a crucial role in the transamination of kynurenine to produce kynurenic acid, a metabolite of tryptophan that exhibits neuroprotective and anticonvulsant properties. The significance of kynurenic acid lies in its involvement in synaptic transmission and potential implications in various neurological disorders, such as schizophrenia and Huntington′s disease, highlighting KAT III′s importance in both normal physiology and disease states.
