karyopherin α5 Antibody (H-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects karyopherin alpha 5 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-karyopherin α5 antibody (H-4) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Karyopherin alpha 5, also known as importin alpha 5, SRP6, or IPOA6, is a crucial protein involved in selective transport of proteins across the nuclear envelope, a process essential for maintaining cellular function and regulating gene expression. This 536 amino acid protein features ten armadillo (ARM) repeats and one importin beta-binding (IBB) domain, which play a significant role in function. Karyopherin α5 is specifically expressed in testis and recognizes proteins with nuclear localization signals (NLSs), facilitating their docking at nuclear pore complex (NPC) for ATP-dependent translocation into nucleus. IBB domain of karyopherin α5 acts as an intrasteric autoregulatory sequence that interacts with target NLS domain, ensuring precise delivery of nuclear-targeted proteins. Given its role in nuclear import, karyopherin α5 may also be implicated in nuclear localization of HIV-1, suggesting potential involvement in disease pathogenesis.
