SEE ALSO...

karyopherin α1 Antibody (187.1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects karyopherin alpha 1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-karyopherin alpha 1 antibody (187.1) is available as a non-conjugated format. Karyopherin alpha 1 plays a crucial role in the nuclear transport system, specifically in recognizing and targeting proteins for nuclear import. This process maintains cellular function by regulating transport of proteins essential for gene expression, DNA repair, and cell cycle progression. Karyopherin alpha 1 primarily resides in the cytoplasm, binding to substrates before translocation through the nuclear pore complex. Substrate binding by karyopherin alpha 1 ensures only properly folded and functional proteins enter the nucleus, preventing cellular dysfunction. Karyopherin alpha 1 also interacts with various proteins, including karyopherin β1, which adapts to facilitate docking of the karyopherin α1/substrate complex to nucleoporins on the nuclear envelope. This intricate mechanism highlights karyopherin alpha 1′s importance in cellular transport and potential as a therapeutic target in nuclear transport dysregulation diseases.
