KAP3 Antibody (D-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects KAP3 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). KAP3 (D-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The mouse kinesin superfamily-associated protein 3 (KAP3) and human homolog KAP3A are globular proteins that play a crucial role as linkers for chromosome-associated proteins, facilitating proper organization and movement of chromosomes during cell division. KAP3 is primarily located in the cytoplasm, where KAP3 interacts with kinesin superfamily proteins, KIF3A and KIF3B, which are essential for transport of membranous organelles along axonal pathways. KAP3 presence in the cytoplasm is vital for maintaining cellular transport mechanisms and ensuring organelles are delivered to appropriate destinations, which is critical for neuronal function and overall cellular health. Additionally, mouse KAP3 can produce an alternative isoform, KAP3B, due to a stop codon insertion at the C-terminus, highlighting the complexity and regulatory potential. Initial studies of human homolog, also known as SMAP (Small G protein GDP dissociation stimulator-associated protein), have revealed KAP3′s role as an adaptor protein for Smg GDS and kinesin II, as well as a substrate for tyrosine phosphorylation by v-Src, further emphasizing KAP3′s multifaceted functions in cellular processes.

Can KAP3 (D-6): sc-55598 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your question. Yes, KAP3 (D-6): sc-55598 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
