JIP-1 Antibody (B-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects JIP-1 of mouse and rat origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). JIP-1 (B-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. JIP-1, also known as MAPK8IP1, plays a crucial role in regulating c-Jun N-terminal kinases (JNKs), which are important mediators of stress responses and cellular signaling pathways. JIP-1 acts as a cytoplasmic scaffold that retains JNKs in the cytoplasm, thereby inhibiting JNK activation and subsequent gene expression. This regulation is vital because aberrant JNK signaling has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. JIP-1 contains a JNK binding domain at its amino terminus and a carboxy-terminal SH3 domain, allowing JIP-1 to interact with JNKs more effectively than other substrates like ATF-2 and c-Jun, which compete for binding. Multiple splice variants of JIP-1, such as JIP-1b, JIP-1c (also known as islet-brain 1 or IB-1), JIP-2a, JIP-2b, and JIP-3, have been identified in the brain, highlighting JIP-1′s diverse roles in cellular signaling and potential implications in neurological functions.
