IRF-1 Antibody (H-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects IRF-1 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-IRF-1 antibody (H-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Interferon regulatory factor-1 (IRF-1) plays a crucial role in the immune response by acting as a transcriptional activator for type I interferons, which are vital for antiviral defense and immune regulation. IRF-1 is primarily located in the nucleus, where IRF-1 binds to specific DNA sequences in the promoters of interferon-α and interferon-β genes, thereby facilitating their transcription. Nuclear localization enables IRF-1 to directly influence gene expression in response to viral infections and other immune stimuli. IRF-1′s interaction with IRF-2, a repressor of interferon transcription, highlights IRF-1′s importance in maintaining a balance in immune responses; while IRF-1 promotes immune activation, IRF-2 can inhibit this process, demonstrating the intricate regulatory mechanisms that govern immune function. The interplay between these two factors is critical for proper immune system functioning, and dysregulation can lead to various pathologies, including autoimmune diseases and cancer.

When should the TransCruz reagent sc-74530 X be used instead of the standard form sc-74530?

Asked by: Professor Griffin
Thank you for your question. We recommend using the TransCruz reagent form when performing ChIP or GelShift assays. This form can also be used in other applications such as Western Blot or IHC, but the dilution should be adjusted by a factor of 10 to account for the higher original concentration.
