SEE ALSO...

Involucrin Antibody (SY5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects involucrin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-involucrin antibody (SY5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Involucrin plays a crucial role as a precursor protein in the formation of the keratinocyte cornified envelope, which is essential for skin barrier function and protection against environmental stressors. Involucrin is initially located in the cytosol of keratinocytes and becomes cross-linked to membrane proteins during terminal differentiation, a process vital for the structural integrity of the skin. The cross-linking occurs through covalent bonds formed between glutamine residues of involucrin and other envelope precursors, facilitated by transglutaminase enzymes. The extensive cross-linking ability of involucrin creates a robust and resilient cornified envelope, which is critical for maintaining skin hydration and preventing pathogen entry. Involucrin is specifically expressed in various cell types, including Chinese hamster ovarian cells, PtK2 rat kangaroo kidney cells, and rat epidermal keratinocytes, highlighting its importance in epithelial tissue development and function.

I need to use an antibody to detect the protein in samples of canine origin. Do you know if this mouse monoclonal antibody will work?

Asked by: Germaine
Please contact our Technical Service Department and we would be happy to perform sequence analysis and review our data to answer any questions you may have about additional species reactivity
