Insulin C Peptide Antibody (1H8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody developed to recognize the human recombinant C-peptide of proinsulin. Insulin, a crucial peptide hormone composed of 51 amino acids divided into an A chain and a B chain connected by two disulfide bridges, plays a vital role in regulating glucose uptake and metabolism within the body. During its biosynthesis, insulin is initially synthesized as preproinsulin, which undergoes post-translational modifications to form proinsulin. Proinsulin is then enzymatically cleaved to produce mature insulin and the C-peptide, a process essential for the proper folding and structural stability of the insulin molecule. These post-translational modifications are critical as they ensure the biological activity of insulin, facilitating its ability to increase cell permeability to monosaccharides, amino acids, and fatty acids. The C-peptide itself serves as an important biomarker for insulin secretion and pancreatic beta-cell function, as C-peptide is released in equimolar amounts with insulin. Anti-Insulin C Peptide antibody (1H8) is recommended for use in immunoprecipitation (IP) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of C-peptide from human, bovine, and porcine sources, making anti-Insulin C Peptide antibody (1H8) a versatile tool for research into insulin biosynthesis, secretion dynamics, and the study of insulin-related metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes mellitus. By specifically targeting the C-peptide region, Insulin C Peptide monoclonal antibody (1H8) allows researchers to accurately measure insulin production and assess the efficacy of therapeutic interventions aimed at improving insulin sensitivity and secretion, thereby advancing our understanding and management of diabetes and other insulin-related conditions.
