IL-1ra Antibody (A-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects IL-1ra protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IL-1ra (A-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. IL-1ra protein plays a crucial role in modulating immune response by acting as a natural antagonist to pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1α and IL-1β, which promote inflammation and immune activation. By binding to the same receptors as IL-1α and IL-1β, IL-1ra effectively inhibits their activity, preventing excessive inflammatory responses that can lead to tissue damage and chronic inflammatory diseases. This regulatory function is particularly important in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, where IL-1 overproduction can exacerbate joint inflammation and destruction. Additionally, IL-1ra exists in four isoforms due to alternative splicing, which may have distinct regulatory roles in various physiological and pathological contexts, further underscoring IL-1ra importance in maintaining immune homeostasis.
