IL-1ra Antibody (5G11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects IL-1ra in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). IL-1ra, or interleukin-1 receptor antagonist, plays a crucial role in modulating the immune response by inhibiting the activity of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1α and IL-1β, which promote inflammation and immune activation. This regulation is particularly important in preventing excessive inflammatory responses that can lead to tissue damage and chronic inflammatory diseases. IL-1ra is primarily located in the extracellular space, where IL-1ra binds to the same receptors as IL-1α and IL-1β, effectively blocking their action and serving as a natural anti-inflammatory agent.
