IL-13 Antibody (F-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects IL-13 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IL-13 (F-6) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Interleukin-13, or IL-13, is a pleiotropic cytokine that plays a crucial role in immune regulation and inflammation, exhibiting approximately 30% sequence identity with IL-4 and sharing many biological activities. IL-13 is primarily secreted by activated T lymphocytes and has significant effects on monocytes, macrophages, and B cells, including the upregulation of CD23 and major histocompatibility complex proteins while downregulating CD14 expression. Notably, IL-13 is involved in the inhibition of proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines from activated monocytes, as well as the stimulation of immunoglobulin E expression on activated B cells, making IL-13 a key player in allergic responses and asthma. IL-13′s structure includes five cysteine residues that are essential for stability and function, as these residues form disulfide bonds critical for maintaining three-dimensional conformation. Additionally, IL-13 contains multiple N-linked glycosylation sites, which are important for biological activity and interaction with receptors. IL-13′s cDNA encodes a 131 amino acid precursor that includes a 20 amino acid signal peptide, which is cleaved to produce the mature, biologically active protein.
