IgA Antibody (B-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects IgA1 and IgA2 proteins from mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IgA (B-12) antibody is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Immunoglobulin A (IgA) plays a crucial role in the mucosal immune system, serving as the primary antibody found in mucosal secretions such as saliva, tears, and intestinal fluids. IgA is produced predominantly by B cells located in gut-associated lymphoid tissues, with daily production levels surpassing those of other immunoglobulins. The structure of IgA is particularly important as IgA typically exists as a dimer, which enhances binding to pathogens and neutralizes them effectively. The dimeric form is stabilized by a joining (J) chain and interacts with the polymeric immunoglobulin receptor (pIgR) for transport across epithelial cells to mucosal surfaces, providing a first line of defense against infections. The heavy chain of IgA is an α-chain, while the light chains can be either κ- or λ-chains, allowing for a diverse range of antigen recognition.
