IgA Antibody (AD3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Immunoglobulin A (IgA) in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IgA plays a crucial role in the mucosal immune system, serving as the first line of defense against pathogens that enter the body through mucosal surfaces, such as the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts. IgA is primarily produced by B cells located in gut-associated lymphoid tissues, and IgA′s daily production surpasses that of all other immunoglobulins, highlighting IgA′s importance in maintaining mucosal immunity. The structure of IgA is particularly significant, as IgA typically exists as a dimer, which enhances IgA′s ability to bind to antigens and facilitates transport across mucosal surfaces via the polymeric immunoglobulin receptor. This dimeric form, along with IgA′s potential to form larger polymers, allows IgA to effectively neutralize pathogens and prevent their adherence to epithelial cells, thereby playing a vital role in immune protection. The IgA heavy chain is an α-chain, while the light chains can be either κ- or λ- chains, contributing to the diversity and specificity of the immune response. Anti-IgA antibody (AD3) is an essential tool for researchers studying mucosal immunity and the role of IgA in various diseases.

I am using IgA (AD3): sc-66168 monoclonal antibody for immunoprecipitation, how much antibody should I use?

    Asked by: jenniferc
Thank you for your question. We recommend using 1–10 µl (i.e., 0.2–2 µg) of antibody with 1 ml of cell lysate. However, optimal antibody concentration should be determined by titration. Please find our full immunoprecipitation protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoprecipitation-western-blots
