IFN-α2 Antibody (AE3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects IFN-α2 in human samples through western blotting (WB). IFN-α2, a member of the type I interferon family, plays a crucial role in the immune response by mediating antiviral activity and modulating immune functions. This cytokine helps inhibit viral replication and enhances immune cell activity, such as natural killer cells and macrophages, contributing to defense against infections and tumors. IFN-α2 expression is tightly regulated and can be induced by viral infections and pro-inflammatory cytokines, highlighting its significance in both innate and adaptive immunity. Furthermore, IFN-α2 interacts with the type I interferon receptor, a multisubunit complex that initiates signaling pathways leading to interferon-stimulated gene expression, amplifying the immune response.
