IFI-35 Antibody (B-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects IFI-35 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IFI-35 (B-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The Interferon-induced 35 kDa protein, or IFI-35, is a crucial component of the cellular response to interferons, which are signaling proteins that play a vital role in the immune response. IFI-35 is primarily localized in the nucleus and is expressed in key immune and connective tissue cells such as macrophages, fibroblasts, and epithelial cells. IFI-35 is characterized by a leucine zipper motif, allowing formation of homodimers; however, unlike many leucine zipper proteins, IFI-35 does not bind DNA. Upon stimulation by interferon-alpha, IFI-35 interacts with N-Myc-interacting protein (Nmi), leading to the formation of a high molecular weight complex integral to interferon-alpha signaling pathways and subsequent cellular responses. When associated with Nmi, IFI-35 is shielded from proteasomal degradation, indicating a mechanism that preserves function during critical signaling events. Two isoforms of IFI-35 arise from alternative splicing, which may contribute to diverse functional roles in immune regulation.
